Ugh. I just paid $42 to renew my 64mascots.com domain at eNomCentral. I know it's too much. Ugh.
How did it happen?
1) 2009: I registered the site via Google because it was only $10. They sell the domains but other companies do the admin work. Enom is the company connected with my domain.
2) 2010: I missed the renewal for $10 deadline. Probably just an oversite on my part. Renewed for about $40 because it was cheaper than trying to buy it after it expired. Didn't want to risk site being down during March while I try to transfer the domain. To Enom's credit they had good customer service, which is probably why they charge so much.
3) 2011: Only e-mail I received from Enom about the expiration was after it had expired. Ugh. So, instead of letting it go, renewed fro $35 and $8 for privacy on WhoIs Database. Ugh.
4) Set up e-mail reminder to self to transfer domain for July to 1and1.com, where most of my other domains are. Also set up e-mail reminder for December to renew in case I don't remember to transfer.
Bottom line: Only register through Google if you don't need customer support. Try to register all your domains with the same registrar.
Sigh.
